Whoops! So was working on Aveline, and realized though I posted wips on my facebook page, I hadn't posted any wip photos of this since the initial foam mockup. Soooo um. Here's whats (partially) done so far, and more progress onother parts (boots, bracers etc) on my fb page. There's still a ton of details, and a ton of weathering to still do, but yeah. Makin' progress...
a few notes-
-Snaps are my best friend! All of the leather on the costume is attached to the tunic by snaps, so I can avoid smelling like the era, and wash the tunics! I'll be adding snaps in strategic places to keep the belt, bracers and whatnot from slipping around. I think theres around 90 of them so far. wouldn't be surprised if there's around 150 by the time I'm done lol
-if it's black, its leather. -weathering the leather was SCARYYYY. the stuff's not cheap, and tests revealed that the best way to weather it was to use sandpaper. Lots of crossing fingers, but happy with it. may add a bit more though!
- the sash is a temporary thing, and a test! Going to go with a more linen fabric. The pattern was made by drawing it out in inkscape, and making a creating a stamp for it using my laser cutter. [link]
-took forever to find buttons that didn't have crosses/crests etc. They were ultra crhomed, so i roughed them up with sandpaper, and did a wash using black spraypaint to bring out the details.
-omg boobs! -I loooove the belt
so yeah. dressing up as a female for once. No more entertaining trips to the bathroom with a manbeard
Wow! Awesome work! i love the details. I also want to do a cosplay of Aveline. I wonder what kind of fabric you used on the shirt (white) and the light brown part of the cosplay that is attached to the black leather .If you tell me, you help me alot
haha, oh man. The ENTIRE time we were having lunch i thought you were talking about Avaline from Dragon Age II. THIS MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE. At any rate, this looks amazing. Keep up the good work, im very excited to see the rest of the progress, and then the completion. <3
LOL, you're not the first one XD. Quite a few people were asking if i was going to the Dragon*age shoot as I was working on this. Designwise, i'm not sure how the two were confused, but hey, it happens!
The light brown was a 2 piece dressy outfit i got from a thrift store and chopped up. Was on an incredibly tight budget
Embodying her soooo well! Love!!!

Still gotta worry about sash splash though.
Looks AMAZING.
