ACIII:L Aveline progress wip2 by fevereon ACIII:L Aveline progress wip2 by fevereon
Whoops! So was working on Aveline, and realized though I posted wips on my facebook page, I hadn't posted any wip photos of this since the initial foam mockup. Soooo um. Here's whats (partially) done so far, and more progress onother parts (boots, bracers etc) on my fb page. There's still a ton of details, and a ton of weathering to still do, but yeah. Makin' progress...

a few notes-

-Snaps are my best friend! All of the leather on the costume is attached to the tunic by snaps, so I can avoid smelling like the era, and wash the tunics! I'll be adding snaps in strategic places to keep the belt, bracers and whatnot from slipping around. I think theres around 90 of them so far. wouldn't be surprised if there's around 150 by the time I'm done lol

-if it's black, its leather.
-weathering the leather was SCARYYYY. the stuff's not cheap, and tests revealed that the best way to weather it was to use sandpaper. Lots of crossing fingers, but happy with it. may add a bit more though!

- the sash is a temporary thing, and a test! Going to go with a more linen fabric. The pattern was made by drawing it out in inkscape, and making a creating a stamp for it using my laser cutter. [link]

-took forever to find buttons that didn't have crosses/crests etc. They were ultra crhomed, so i roughed them up with sandpaper, and did a wash using black spraypaint to bring out the details.

-omg boobs!
-I loooove the belt

so yeah. dressing up as a female for once. No more entertaining trips to the bathroom with a manbeard :p

Wow! Awesome work! i love the details. I also want to do a cosplay of Aveline. I wonder what kind of fabric you used on the shirt (white) and the light brown part of the cosplay that is attached to the black leather .If you tell me, you help me alot :aww:

I used a thick cloth painter's dropcloth that I purchased from Harbor freight, it had a nice big weave and was the perfect color to boot!

The light brown was a 2 piece dressy outfit i got from a thrift store and chopped up. Was on an incredibly tight budget

LOL, you're not the first one XD. Quite a few people were asking if i was going to the Dragon*age shoot as I was working on this. Designwise, i'm not sure how the two were confused, but hey, it happens!

This is incredible, Fev! I can't wait to see the finished product. UGH YOU'RE SO TALENTED IT BLOWS MY MIND.

I love that you altered your buttons. ~junkeemunky had to alter her buttons for the Huntsman, too!

I definitely think linen would be a better choice, aesthetically, for your sash. As pretty as the current one is, I feel like it's a little too fancy and shiny in comparison to the rest of the outfit. I think the little bit of extra texture linen (or even some roughly woven suiting fabric) has would make a great addition to the outfit!

Ideally, by the end of the weekend!

Realistically, by the end of the month :p

There's more on this done than whats in this photo, but it needs finishing/piecing together and stuff. the blowgun is on a lathe, partially turned, boots are done, but i hate them and want to remake them. There's also some straps, holsters...

... and a silly hat

That wonderfull news, but I know how stuff can work out (wanted to have my coat finished three weeks ago XD. What's wrong with your boots though, besides them being made out of fake leather they seem too look good in my opinion?

Btw, if you need any tips on that damn tricorn. I've been thinking about it's design and construction (mainly about the sphere formed head part) and allready partially tried it out. Considering I've now made two tricorns you might want to ask me a thing or two (I know the one in my gallery looks bad, so I'm talking about general design and construction here, not about detailed work and finishing).

Good luck on it though =)!

Oh, they're not fake leather.. They're thin uphilstery hides, but the construction was based on putting them over a premade boot. Since i'm not doing that any more, theres a lot of room, and they lose their shape. They look more like floppy sausages wrapped around my leg. I'm goign to pull them apart, add harder backing, and adjust them to fit tighter.

The tricorn hat is getting made from leather, i wet formed a dome, and just need to lay out and wet form the brim and beaky thing. I may be talking to you when i start on Connor, but dunno when that will be!

Well I wouldn't mind if you just wanted to chat about life's beauty :p so contact me when you need info or just want to chat haha.

Regarding the tricorn, I've think you got everything planned out really well, you don't need my inferiour experience XD.
