So this was commissioned by to make Hawke's belt for Katsucon... all good & dandy..
put it on the schedule and stuff..
..then find out on Thursday that Katsucon is THIS week, not NEXT week
so 3 all nighters, my fiance volunteering to help with the tons of sewing needed (and an allnighter from him too) here's the end result. Lesson learned- double check convention dates!
Anywhoo, Its made from various weights of veg tanned tooling leather, the latches on the leg strap & the big ol' buckle are custom made (send me a note if you need a belt buckle thing for your hawke mage cosplay)
After shooting these images, I decided to raise the bag of holding, as it was hanging a bit lower than I'd prefer. Its removable, so if Dan wants use it on other costumes, he can Same with the leg strap
Big fat thanks to all who came to hang on webstream while I was working into the wee hours of the morning
you can check out the blog of the building process here! [link]
If you don't mind the question, where did you get the leather for this? I am wanting to make a Hawke outfit myself, but have had no luck with finding the right colored or textured leather!
The best thing about making belts with leg straps is finding out that, after-the-fact that, in order to keep the belt up on my thigh I had to sacrifice femoral vein blood flow. The experience of having my leg pinched all day long at that convention was absolutely wonderful...
My favorite thing about making belts with leg straps is finding out after-the-fact that in order to have the leg strap stay up on my thigh, I have to sacrifice blood flow from my femoral vein. T'was not a pleasant experience having my leg pinched to death at that convention...
OMG!! I loved everything that you have created before and tought "wow, amazing! and she has a good taste" but that you even like Dragon Age.. damn girl! You are my hero!! o__O
Holy damn that's a big belt! Although I never did play DA2...I played Origins, and it's one of my favorite games of all time, but I heard DA2 isn't as good.
you'll need to get dyes for it though, its natural colors is a light beige
With the dyes, do you have a specific and preferred type that you use that you feel works best?
Thanks again!
ps: amazing work, again!!
