F-A 37 Strega by fevereon F-A 37 Strega by fevereon
k.. didn't quite know exactly where to upload this since its a 3-d sculpt of a sci-fi game :-/

Anyways, this is the F/A-37 Strega, the main craft you fly in the old Sony space shmup, Philosoma.. i fell for this ship the second i saw it way back when.. so much so, i went and brought the game six months before i got a Playstation ..

The project was slated for 2 weeks, but i grossly underestimated it and it wound up taking well over 1 1/2 months... think it was around 280 hours in the woodshop..

It was my first wood sculpture beyond weapons, and if it wasn't for the support of my online friends & peeps, i would've prolly scrapped the project the 4th time i fouled parts up (big special thanks to :gts: , RX, and Ghostwalker, who were there from day 1 and put up with my daily grumbling :frustrated: )

There's a work in progress page here --> [link] with a little timeline thing and a batch of WIP pics ^_^

made of Poplar & Red oak. measures appromimately 26" long

Strega ©SCEA

4-30 edit: despised the presentation, so i went & revised it :)

1-21-05 edit: fixed broken WIP link
1-30 edit: damn you link typos!!!

This is the first time I have ever heard of Fevereon and I am totally humiliated by her. I have seen many incredible pieces on Deviant Art and artists of talent beyond belief, but nothing has prepared me for her. Her skill is in a league of it's own. I have seen nothing outside of Hollywood that can match this. What put her over even Hollywood is that it's wood. Wood! My God it is taking every aspect of self control to keep from using expletives in this and I almost never use them.
The detailing is incredible, the paintwork flawless. I can make only one suggestion and it has nothing to to with how to improve it for she is so far above me that I am lucky to be on the same site as her.
My suggestion send pictures of your work to magazines such as Modern Woodworker. I know I shall see you on the cover. I prostrate myself before you. I come to Deviant Art to learn humility and never have I been taught such a lesson.

Wow... I honestly thought this guy was a plastic model and was going to ask where I can get the game/model. But now I'm extremely impressed. This guy is a beauty.

JUST JIZZED

Cant wait tell a game is made that looks like the anamated sequences of philosoma.

For that matter cant wait until humanity overcomes greed and actually build these things for real and explores the universe.

But I guess thats where you come in. Your the BUILD GUY

MAKE ME A SPACE SHIP FEVER

------------ EPIC ----------

Man, I hadn't even thought of Philosoma in ages...

What a beautiful model you've constructed, though. It looks like it was one of those pleasant nightmares to put together. Looking at it I would not have guessed the components to be made of wood!

Great work! To some degree the design of the craft resembles of the Normandy space ship from "Mass Effect" :)

Your woodwork is AMAZING. Your painting skills are bad-ass and wonderfully precise! I think I'm falling in love with Strega, too, you did so well....

Gad! I'm sick that I missed you at anime weekend. I haven't thought of Philisoma in YEARS!! I was working at Babbages when this game came out and I was determined to beat it. the kickass CG helped alot. This model is too awesome.

I am VERY impressed with the results of your patience and diligence. This is a beautiful model that really shows the care put into it (as well as the sweat, pain, and clumps of scalp). It really shows what can be achieved when one is willing to dedicate thier focus to a project.
Bravo!

That game is HARD.

I own it.
Well, my friend does, but he lives across the street, and we share games.
I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN PAST THE FIRST LEVEL.

I think that's just my weakness >_>

This is very good, but did you make all this out of scratch yourself? Or did you assemble one of them models you can buy the pieces of and assemble at home yourself.

It's just so good I would think it's a toy rather than a sculpture made from scratch. (That's a compliment, by the way, lol.)

Well done! :D

ps:
Did you notice you're featured in "The X-Galleries - V", a news item on the front page?
Here: [link]
(I'm also featured there too. I'm the guy that did the little butterfly made out of wire and a shellfish. ;))

his biggest thing is cars... but hes done some of the airplanes and robots. I saw him the happiest when he made some robot ones that moved :D He wants to make an airplain that flys but he hasn't had the time to figure it out yet.

Ill keep that link for him though Im sure hell love it. It takes some seriouse skill to do stuff like that...

oy was it ever a mess of grumbling lol (accompanied by my refering the main part of the ship to a phalic symbol). i think i'm still traumitized by seeing all of strega's giblits strewn all over the place. But in the end it turned out looking pretty damn nice and i even got to touch it!...and almost kill it with an aol cd.
