Lightnings sword wips 2 by fevereon Lightnings sword wips 2 by fevereon
Sorry for posting again so soon, but this things been exciting to work on :excited:

Been working on this the last few days, tis been funny because the initial blues had some missing elements (and of course, elements I had to fudge), and as I'm finding better refs and figuring out how to make the stuff work, (pretty much had a general "um what IS that??. I'll figure it out later" policy) the blueprnts and refs and just about everything related have been scribbled all over with revisions and such XD

I figured today out how to get everything all bolted together to be sturdy, but hide everything so it'll look like in game instead of having the body be built from one big ol' block. Don't ask me where they fit the gun barrel in there, the more I get done on this keeps showng me more -n- more ways that Square CHEATED that transformation XD

Top photos are how it'll look assembled, save for painting. Stripped the paint off the blade, will redo. Bottom two are semi exploded views of the parts. The bolted on segment that connects to the blade (bottom pics) is my favorite part, but it won't be seen :p

kinda aiming to have most of the parts that were present in the screencaps, though it still won't actually be transformable because I lack MAGICCCCCCCk. theres also next to no room to put the internal gun part lol.

Wood, expanded PVC sheeting, 1 nut, 1 bolt, bunch o' washers, styrene, crossed fingers, bandaids

Jumping Jesus Christ, Fev. You should be an engineer the way you make some of these impossible designs possible. Seriously, with the way you're going, this thing looks like it could actually function the way it was designed in the game... without the whole killing and magic aspect of it all, and whatnot. Still awesome.

once the parts are figured out enough (which is the tough part with this), its a matter of building it all up layer by layer, which isn't -too- bad. Theres just a TON of parts to cut, detail, glue together n paint ^^

Still gotta figure out the area near the handle, but in the meantime it'll be on to parts I know lol

Since I know this is a commission for someone, may I ask you do something dangerous and bring it to AWA this year if you could? You always seem to show up with the most interesting of gadgets and trinkets. o_o

maaan, my goal is to do a WoW cosplay, with wings, armor, a big chonkin' axe, and a huge book of summons that leave a nasty welt [link] .. but maan, right now its basically a fantasy with all the other stuff goin on :(

If i'm lucky., i might have a semi functioning gunblade commish in progress that I might be able to bring to the con, since these basically wind up getting mailed out when done :)

Dangerous? pffft! i like AWA, not getting KICKED out of AWA XD more into -looking- the part more than anything else, and hitting someone with any of this stuff would probably just piss them off :p

Ok. I'll just have to trust in your allmighty judgement and such and be patient.

You wouldn't happen to have a link to those ref pics, Fev, would you? I'm quite curious about the mechanics of that magnificent beast of a weapon. That out, I like how your variant is coming along. I can't really imagine what the difficulty of figuring out the construction of that weapon would be. Keep at it!

the primary thing that I found was some trailer video I found on [link] , and a couple photos that you can find via simple google search. screencapped the transformation sequence of the video, sketched out the parts i could make out, and tried to make em' all fit together...

right now many of the parts are primed, but no point in painting them til its all done since there's more works still and they'd get scratched up around all the tools ^^;
