We're moving!

Yepyep, me and my fiance landed a house, and after a pile o paperwork, inspections, and about what.. 3 weeks tops? , we're closing on it tomorrow! (or today, given that it takes forever for me to write these dang journalthings ).. WOw, we're both under stress from it, but it will be nice to not have to drive all the way up to his place (and vice versa) on weekends, especially with the price of gas OMG

We're aiming to get this house *right* unlike mine (which has art and crap all over the place, or his apartment (which has transformers and crap all over the place), and make the house more "liveable" than the current fragged state our current homes are in..

.. As usual, its been a bit of a madhouse over here... somehow managed to land a nice gig doing some concept work and such, so that, in combination with prop commissions, preparing for conventions, a move, an eventual marriage, lots n lots of packing, and a bunch of other things mah tired butt can't recall at this moment, its like theres not enough time in the day to do everything..

Theres a stockpile of prop commission inquiries I have yet to answer, but once the house closes and the initial phase of this concept gig are over (omg deadlines!!! ) I'll have a wee bit o' time to like, respond to people XD.. with each inquiry, I have to do some research into each prop, and sometimes even do a couple sketches to see how I'd go about it, so it takes a good bit of time (3-5 hours each in most cases)

This of course, will in no way interfere with deadlines for props that I'm already working on!

Finally home & rested fromt he convention block, and have some time to do art & commissions, and allt he other stuff that the cns left no time for..

We did Megacon the weekend before, which was quite smooth.. but ya see, last weekend was Momocon, a 2 day con that took place at the Georgia Tech student center.. you know.. in Atlanta.. you know... the weekend where the line of storms and tornados and crap that plucked parts of the roof off the GA dome and hospital.. The SEC b-ball games that were moved took place about 2 blcoks n' change from the place where Momocon was taking place.. later that night another line came which set off sirens in my town the previous night at like 4am, and made me and my guest =Eldanis duck n cover in my basement.. two more lines came thru the next day andthe con we all got evac'ed to the lowest level of the student center....


though it was local and otherwise fun, it was stressfulllll

An additional thanks and a massive hug goes to Harold, and "Patron of teh Cake" Carolyn, who both found out that by sitting at my empty chair auomatically made them ones who helped ppl who got buttons.. omg what a huge help. I would have gone plum insaneeeeeeeee(er)...

....and neither does the death and ressurection of Jesus XD.... AB's convention center apparently had a church or something in there (AB was easter weekend), and I heard that during the sermon the priest was mentioning anime..

AB was a blast! I missed having mah mum coming again to fee us stuffed quahogs, and my fiance was back at home, lookin at houses! Was with great company this weekend though, both fellow artist riffraff, and awesome attendees, like mudkips, Steve of the 9 hour wait, and the fellow shmupos that I got to meet and geek with (play kento cho or else!!!)

Special thanks to Ben for becoming my temporary minion and snagging two awesome tees for me from in the dealers room, since its hard to ditch the table (caffiene + Dune= epic win), Dave of Snafu for OMGawesomeness, Matt Herms & his fiancee Karen (hope thats right, awful with names) for equal levels of OMGawesomeness..

Hi guys!.. I was jus' wanting to drop in with a real quick hi, before hopping back into the fray of conventioning.. Was hoping to make a cool Katsucon report, but wound up slammed with work, and preppin for the set of back-to-backs (megacon, momocon, Anime Boston)

I wish to thank all of y'all who have come through here, left their feedback, crits, comments, and overall support in one form or another..

Aaaand we're househunting officially! And we found one we like!!.. hope our bid holds up!


Katsu had, once again, the ultra sexxy classic arcade, brought to us by Jeff and Videotopia... he seems to never fail to amaze me each year with what he brings.... holycrap he had Satan's Hollow o.O

Megacon also was a nice one.. got to meet Fat Momma XD, and was asked if I had pinup girls/cheesecake a lot XD, which was funny cuz more folks have pinup girls have anime cons have Naruto fanarts in folks folios XD.. It definately had a stronger push toward Western art, and there were a lot of serious pros, a lot of REALLY nice stuff out there.. I made it a point to not bring money when I roamed the alley, but made the mistake of having some green on me while roaming the dealers area... snagged two plush tachicomas and a box of 8 gashapon sized ones.. tis what I get for roaming into the dealers area ..
My fiancee knew a lot of the artists , and spent much of the weekend with a grin on his face so wide you could stick a banana in sideways, cuz he got interviewed and geeked out about Star Wars XD

theres also a funny/gross story involving godawful chinese food and laxatives, but i'll spare you that one XD

Alrighty, in the middle of a 3 con set, with Megacon, Momocon, and Anime Boston all back to back, which means that there's been a lot of hairtearing and panicking., and a pile of self loathing for scheduling up all those cons.. wound up drained something awful after Megacon, but feeling a lil better, just in time to host some friends who'll be coming to Momocon! maybe a big Saturday evening art jam might happen.. I'ma talk to everyone and see what they think..

Then Anime Boston!!.. looking forward to seeing Summer and her tablebabe, and a slewwww of other regulars whose faces I won't remember, but would immediately recognize via their art

These prices and conditions are for personal and NON COMMERCIAL commissions. Basically work that's not going to be reproduced or printed in any form.

----2 Dimensional commissions!!-----
Right now I'll be starting with character commissions, and as I get into the swing of doing commission work again, more will be available! So here's the rundown!

- $100 waist up single character!

-$150 for a single (full body) character with a basic to no background..

-Price may vary with heavily detailed armor, wings, anthro, or backgrounds that are actual specific settings.

- this would include a 1200x1800 (ish, depending on the ratio you want) jpeg, and a signed exclusive 20x24 print of your piece


- I retain the right to make 16x20 prints and smaller if I choose to do so. It helps offset the amount of time and work put into the commission (at least 20 hours). If you would like to have it exclusive, expect to pay 3 times the normal cost of the commission. However, I won't be making any 20x24 prints for sale, so that size would be exclusive to you!


====General Rules=====

- Payment made through Paypal or Money Order. At least 50% payment is made up front before sketching is started. 75% for woodwork/dimensional work!

- As you can see with my gallery, I have strongest experience with males, but you're more than welcome to request women, anthro, creatures, etc for your commission!

- No Porn! Tasteful nudity is fine, but I will not do hentai/porn/yaoi/yuri.

-basically, when you send me a note, I'll send you a quote, if you're game, I'll put you in queue, and will tag you again when I'm ready to begin your commission... you send a deposit, I start on your commission & will update you.. when its done, you send the rest of the payment, and I'll send you the finished work!

Well, theres a couple advantages!
- You'll get them signed, so if I get famous then die, you can hock em on Ebay for more :3
- they cost less! (11x14 prints are 20$, 16x20$.. with shippng included Yummmmmm)
- Though I mention 2-3 weeks for shipping, in case I receive an order while on vacation, at a con, or don't have it on hand and have to order it! I would actually be shipping out a print thats ordered within a day or so of receiving a print order, if I have it on hand!

Well, due to the whole copyrights issues, I believe that companies that allow us to sell fanart (instead of running thru alleys with C&D orders) are granting us a privilege to do so, and I don't have any interest in abusing that privilege, and therefore will not sell it online, only at cons, where they can come right up to my table and kick my black ass should they decide to do so.
But if you happen to hit a convention that I'll be at, I'll be carrying much of the stuff you see in my gallery.

-made my very first wearable mascot head, on commission for a (very cool) local company! Again, thanks RX2 for the referral!.. Can't wait til they launch things, They're such awesome people to work with! Once things launch, I'll put up some photos on DA... quick warning - Its blazingly cute :3.
-The two works in progress that have been sitting in the gallery *are* moving along (I swear!!).. Aiming to get them done in the next couple weeks!
-Momocon, a local (free to attend!) anime convention In Atlanta that takes place in March, has offered me to do the coverart for the program book again ^^.. It was fun to do last year, and looking forward to doing it again this year!
-aaand a mancake.. well two.. someone asked me about doing a piece od ACE from One Piece, and seein' as hes a really col character, drawing cake makes me happy, and someone asking about a chara I was targeting anyways... its as good as an excuse as any.. (unless you wanna see a pic of Zas wearing nothin' but thighboots )
-the other mancake... original character design.. don't have a name for him yet.. started as a doodle, ending as cake!


Okay, the last convention report for the year!!.. Anime USA!
Although the con was slower than the other out of state cons I went to this year, I actual got to actually meet a lot of the fellow artists that I see at other conventions, but tend to generally pass like ships in the night..
So I got to sit next to Tinkeryama's crew, who are always a joy to be with, as well as Lori of Loriofpandora on the other side.. Across from me was Kaysha (*Eldanis) who was right across from me.. it was a bit of a shock to me when she set up, because I can't say I was ever face to face with so many shirtless cakes for a weekend... not like I'm complaining or anything.. shee's more ballsy than I am.. Mine tend to be stashed toward the back of my folio

Also got to see Nina (snuggles joO) and Sketch, And Greg on the last day (I didn't see him til the end when the con ended.. missed getting to hang out with him, but he was hard at work as a volunteer on staff) lisha was cute as
ever, and knockin' out portraits, and I got to bang chairs back to back during the weekend with E.K. (bigbigtruck), who was one of my strongest memories from my early days of conventioning.. Shes a brilliant artist, and an awesome person, and it was an honor to chill and talk with her! Also got to step to *fatpuppy (AND what?? BRING IT!! You in MY house NOW XD)

You don't see some writer wanting to sell books, but since they can't or suck at writing, crop up at a writers event with a Harry Potter book that they copied, justifying trying to sell it because they painstakingly copied it with a pen all by themselves, then trying to compare themselves with a legitimate writer.
There wouldn't be any hesitation to throw them out and ban them from the event.

I don't see why "artists" who come to cons with work they copied, regardless of what medium they copied it in, are rarely tossed from the alleys, and at most, get slapped on the wrist and are told at best to put the stuff infrating item away. "not knowing" is not an excuse either, seeing as this practice would automatically fail you, and get you immediately expelled in college, and I see folks in their 20's doing this crap.

I understand that some folks want to participate in alleys and make some money, but if you lack the skills to draw something without having to copy or trace it, you shouldn't be there. Do it for practice, do it for studies, but selling it is a big GTFO of the alley. Theres too much demand for alleyspace to allow fools coming in with traced over crap.

Alley staff/directors.. PLEASE toss these fools! No warning, they should know better! Wtf?

Hi guys!

SO yeah, a bit o' time since this things been updated has passed, but eh.. busy/lazy/braindead.. pick an excuse/reason

But yeah.. a lot has been going on here.. but maybe a quick rundown of major thins would keep this thing from becoming looong and boring XD

- Gonna be moving!.. yeah! Since tying the knot is in the future, and the housing market being nice for buyers, we're on the prowl.. hoping to get our move on by next spring!

- Speaking of tying the knot, we set a (tentative) date!. hopefully the weekend of September 13-14 of next year .. woOt!

- Next years convention schedules been in the works.. some cons are getting the axe, but I'll be hoping to attend a few other ones for the first time.. including adding a couple scifi and gaming conventions to the schedule!

-Oh snap! Looks like someone picked up a DA print of vessel!.. Whoever it was, much thanks! (tis my only DA print buyer)

-Speaking of which, the online store on my website is almost ready to go! learned enough coding junk to make having and updating an online store no longer painful, so yeah! Will letcha know when its up and running ( for all one person who might be interested.. ahem.. mom )!

I don't know any arcades that even CARRY Donkey Kong anymore, except Classically themed arcades.. which are rare..

Okay, its like, 2 days before Otakon, and outside of some prints arriving (hopefully today ) i'm all set, and will be packing up tonight .. which means that tomorrow i'll be spending the day engaged in a nice long move & drool session on Soul Calibur, and rolling stuff on Katamari Damacy .. no allnighter panic session this time around

But yeah, I'm gonna be hitting Otakon this year, the last of the summer out of state conventions.. doing time in the artist's alley lol. If you come down, look for the efffin big servicey

been hiding off the internets for a bit, trying to deal with a bunch of RL stuff and prepare things for these next few months.. tis been a stressful past few, think that all the mess with being engaged and family pressure to tie the knot ASAP (and not really having an idea of how to go about it), mum coming to visit and meeting his mom for the first time, conventions, work, eventual move to where pookie lives and general other stuff is helping much, but at least the con season's almost over..

picked up a logitech G15 gaming keyboard.
keys glow in the dark, has 2 usb ports on it, 18 programmable keys, sexxy LCD monitor that has built in performance monitor, timers, time, media player controls, and gaming controls.. seeing as I'm usually splayed on the couch when working, its nice to have the quick access to the controls and such.. the performance monitor and the timers are very nice too, especially for speedpainting and work.. and you can find scripts for it that monitor gmail, weather, and stocks.. you can also disable the windows and shortcuts keys with a switch, instead of plucking them out of your keyboard.

my fiancee picked up an Archos 504 Portable Media Player, and its really nice, so i went and picked up one as well.. can store reference images ans such on there, but it down't have an internet connection.. hm maybe should have gotten a psp instead.. but its still nice to have though. Plus it was on sale.

We like the idea of having a bigger screen to watch videos..

Yeahh.. Anime Expo! lesse.. let's kick out the bads, then onto the goods..

-the flights.. geez. missed one, tyhen the copilot never showed up on another, then baggage claim folks refused to check my damn bags to see if they arrived on an earlier flight.. come *on* man, it just take a lil tag scan.. GEEZ).. so yeh, wound up waiting an extra 2 hours (cuz the bags were late in arriving to the terminal) and of course, the damn things had arived on an earlier flight. effin US Airways..

-oy the hotel was far away, and though there was a shuttlebus, there was none early on friday, nor one on prereg day

- we went to line up in front of the alley at 6:30 and all, and there were 15 or so people in front of us, but by the time they let us in, there were about 50-60 people ahead of us in line, because the people in front of us were constantly letting their friends cut in line with them.. that was SERIOUSLY fucked up.. I was offered a space in the front of the line, but turned it down, cuz it wasn't fair to everyone else ahead of me, and one person told me "not to get my panties in a bunch" when I told them that they couldn't cut in front of me. A lot of folks who were further back in line wound up in the sphincter of the alley, which wouldn't have happened if all that damn linecutting didn't take place, and they were even more pissed than I was.
If you want first dibs on the better tables, SHOW UP EARLIER AND GO TO THE END OF THE DAMN LINE. all those who think its fine to cut lines (and those that let them) are VERY inconsiderate and disgusting. There really needs to be something put in place in regards to that next year

+ though I've been hearing prereg horror stories, got mah badge as fast as i could walk.. (note to folks: pick up yo AX badges the day before the con, preferably in he evening!)

+ alley was open, bright, and HELLA busy! Geez, can't say i've ever been thay busy before... thanks to the guy who came back twice despite the sign that said i'd be back from the dealers room 45 min.earlier

Keith Silverstein came by my table on the first day!!.. for those who don't know, he's Zasalamel's US voice actor!! finally got to do what i regretted not doign last year, got him to sign the back of my cosgears medallion!! wOOOOT!!! +wow, that dealers room.. geez, um. yeah.. got stuff. Copics yum, Bionic Six action figure yay,missed last day deal for an intuos 6x8 for 200 bucks though.. found some gundams for pookie , and bribed a guy to go back and snag a God of War tee for me (thanks!) XD.

+ chilled with *-coey- met ~misterastigmatist/skitz!, *47ness (cosplay turned out swEET!), *Jianre-M, ~RuinedBloodShed, and geez, met a ton of folks for the first time XD.. the company was great, hoping to pop back up again next year, alley reg permitting (la convention center)

+the docks... omg this was by the central import/export hub it was AWESOME!!!! many photos taken while crossing bridge.. superfreighters everywhereeeeeee...

Making a lil pit stop in the journal before hopping back on the convention train heading out to Long Beach CA for Anime Expo.. what a mess its been, with the hotel though (wev'e been moved 7 miles away).. can't say alley reg was much better (can you say multiple website clusterf*** and crash? :cuss: )...

...but whatever, i'm going.. just gots a lil packing left to do, then muuuuch sleeping

Will be looking forward to seeing the cool folks from the previous couple o' years, friends who can't make it to the East coast, and hell, LONG BEACH yo! mmm get to see an ocean again.. well, its not the Atlantic, but it'll do

Things were so hectic over here, and i either make a mess or lose the to-do list that keeps my mind focussed..
So on a whim (and desperation) i ran a google search, and found this [link] a free todo list software called "Swift To-Do List Lite" and its exactly what I've been needed to keep everything straight. I purchased the full version, but this version is nice and freeeeeeeee.. you can export it to html or print, and use various filters. snap to set up, highly intuitive

SO yeah, those of y'all short attention span theater/ADD/too much to remember/ hard to focus folks (like me) might wanna check this puppy out!

okay, with the exception of the wtf stuff on the bottom of this review, this con made up for the past two conventions, which were pretty rough for me in different respects (was uber tired at Jacon, and Acen sucked for the most part)

but yeh, my experience was very enjoyable.. i got in on Thursday, and set up because i knew that when i or my fiancee cosplay, i tend to spend more time away from my table.. It was nice because i got to talk with folks and catch up with aquaintances there from last year.. Also wound up first on the list with gary bidell to get a commission.. that man's effin' amazing with those pencils <3

: was next to me, and James Ross and Mark Boyd (whom i've met online, and personally last year, respectively), were on the other side of angie.. we got to chat a bit.. Maybe nxt year i'll treat Mark to dindin on Thursday or something

Friday i set up and did pretty good, but i was away regularly, and taking advantage of the fact that my man was running around in chainmaile & thighboots <3.. apparently he told most folks to look for the little figure of Zas in the alley, so he was like, a walking ad of sorts XD..

Saturday was also cool.. it was my turn to do time in cosplay gear, and though i wound up juggling posing and selling, it was fine.. it was amusing to see the high level of confusion of many folks who confused me with my fiancee XD.. it also seemed to attract a lot of folks who were asking about how the cosplay gear was made, as well as got to chat with a lot of other cosplayers, including (congrats again on the hall contest win!) and the dude who was cosplaying as gwar ( his last name was Fry), whom i got to talk shop with. there were a lot of folks who inquired about prop commissions. Packed up as soon as i ran out of Jolt, cuz that stuff makes you crash....
hard....

also got to introduce to my finacee.. though it wasn't off the wall, it meant a lot to me to be able to introduce you to him lauren!.. Soooo when 's it YOUR turn? *nudge*

Sunday spizzy ( ragingseagulls.com ) moved across from me, and we spent the day pelting eachother with buttons, which was fun as all hell XD.. wound up spending the entire day hopped up on Jolt, cafe mocha with a doubleshot added, and a bunch of pixysticks.. was bouncing off walls. Despite that, I focussed on staying at the table as much as possible that day, as my fiancee really spent more time assisting me than going off and enjoying the events during the previous two days..

Was also cool to chat with Newton Ewell as well, who came by my table on Sunday.. he had some sweet scifi art and i had no choice but to give him the bird of respect XD.
